Project Representative - Construction Civil Site Inspector

About the position

KSA a Pape Dawson Company is searching for a Resident Project Representative (RPR), also known as a Construction Inspector, to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. The typical construction projects include water, sewer, and road projects. We are looking for someone that is a keen observer, an effective communicator, and a well-informed administrator, familiar with even the tiniest details and committed to their observance by all parties.

There are some qualities that we are looking for in a Resident Project Representative. You need to have experience as a facilitator, contributing to the process to help the contractor’s work progress as planned and to help achieve a completed project that fulfills the owner’s expectations in terms of appearance, functionality, and quality. Prior experience with the construction of water/wastewater, roadways, concrete, bridges and water storage tanks as well as interpreting plans and blueprints is highly preferred.

  Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures follow the engineering plans and materials used conform to specifications.
• Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of installations and layouts.
• Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Prepares samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing.
• Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
• Interprets blueprints and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
• Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
• Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
• Computes monthly estimates of work completed and approves payment for contractors.
• Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from blueprints and reports such changes for incorporation on master blueprints.
•  Monitors contractor's work schedule, coordinates with construction materials testing lab, and requests testing

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.
• Prior experience in construction inspection, particularly tower inspection, is highly preferable.
• Education in lieu of experience may be considered.
• Able to work independently and as part of a cohesive team
• Consistently reports for work on time, ensures responsibilities are covered when absent
• Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft office software
• Positive attitude in and with problem solving
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Reacts well under pressure and accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions
